Have Mercy On Me

Like a beggar’s eye
That stares so curiously
when a man passes through the alley.

Like a dog’s tail
Wagging constantly
Expecting something
From the master.

Like a traveller’s thirst
Expecting a stream
In every winding road.
When climbing the hill.

Like a porter expecting a load
At the Railway Station
Day and night.

Like a poet expecting his poem
To be the best.

And me, obnoxious little creature
Kneeling down on the floor.

Dear God, I only expect mercy.
Shower upon me thy mercy.
Have mercy on me.
